Today started off like any other "beep beep beep beep"... But it took a couple of twists along the way.

I managed to drag my carcass to gym again, so that's good!

I had coffee with someone who accidentally crossed my path and we are now friends. While having said coffee we spoke about some bands. Two of which were Collective Soul and Lifehouse. I mentioned that they were in SA, but I wasn't sure when. Upon checking it was discovered that they were at the dome on the same Friday.

I said "Let's check... and if there are tickets we will be gigging in 3 months"... Backstory... Myself and Chris were in a band for around 3 weeks when it fell apart and have been talking about starting SOME sort of musical journey again... There were tickets available... Last minute arrangements have kicked into gear and I'm super stoked to go to the concert.

After this mid morning shenanigans we had life group at our house in the evening. Such a blessing to be able to meet up with like minded individuals and encourage and support each other on our various journeys.

Wow... what an epic day.

Today was a pretty cool and pretty full day... My days always seem full lately, if only full of busyness.

I met up with a buddy for coffee and chatted about the future and planning to make music. I find myself dreaming of the future a lot lately.

I'm grateful for the fact that I am in a position to dream about the future. Not many people are fortunate enough to dream about the future as they are stuck trying to just make it through each day.

First men's breakfast of the new year... I dragged myself out of bed at ridiculous 'o clock and made it there today.

Another habit I am going to try and stick to... this blog habit is not going as smoothly as I'd have hoped :-P

I'm thankful that I am able to get up and go to men's breakfast things, where in other countries you'd be risking your life to do something like that.

Today was a relatively normal day... As normal as they come for me these days.
I spent some time working on an Android app... I then spent some time dabbling in some crypto currency stuff... Later I went to band practice.

I am trying to grow and challenge myself as a person even though I find myself in a transition phase of life currently.

I am thankful for my ability to try pretty much anything.

Today was a pretty chilled day... I worked on rebuilding the scheduling aspect of an Android app I created a while back.

We braaied in the evening with the peeps from our life group. It was an awesome evening. I feel like this year is still setting up to be a roller coaster of a year... Hopefully in a good way.

Today I was investigating and puzzling on how to redo a section of an Android app I created a while back. I have some ideas I'm going to try out over the next couple of days.

I also had a meeting for some possible contract work. It's not a LOT of work... But another revenue stream is not something to be frowned upon, no matter how small it seems. It's easier for one big river to dry up than it is for many little streams to dry up.

I am thankful for opportunities that are presenting themselves to me over the last while. I'm hoping that some of them start materialising.

Today we were up and moving early... with a jam-packed day ahead of us.

We visited with some family here in the Cape. It's been a while since we've seen them.
We try and meet up with family in the various provinces around South Africa as often as we can.
We believe that family is an integral part of life, even when some of the parts of the family are distant.

We got to watch a movie in the cinema today. Very blessed because we don't have to budget down to the last cent to be able to do so.

Later in the evening we met up with some peeps from the "Crypto Knights"... Watch this space... 2018 is already proving to be a wild ride in the crypto space!

I'm feeling happy because I've finally managed to stop slacking on this blog and have caught up to date :-D

Today we went for a drive around Gordon's bay area. The sea is amazing and powerful.

We got to have a swim in the sea, it wasn't as chilly as we were expecting. I'm grateful for having the opportunity to 1. be able to swim and 2. be able to visit the sea. There are many people who have never been taught to swim and many many people who have never even seen the sea.

We went out for waffles at the Belgian Waffle House in Strand today.

They make a good waffle.

We spent some time watching the sunset and not really thinking about much else. It's good and needed to sometimes just detach from everything and just sit and relax with not much going on around you.

I'm very blessed to be able to take in such gorgeous views... oh and the sunset isn't bad either.

Today was a pretty chilled day, we went out to the shops for some stuff.

I got to play some pc games with some pretty cool dudes... so that was cool. It seems I have more cool people in my life than uncool people.

Spent some quality time with a quality lady, my wife... She is the best.

I am very blessed to have an amazing wife that stands by me through tough times.

We slept over at Chantal's grandparents last night.
Got a really good nights' rest.

This was the first Sunday in a while neither of us had to be up super early.

Today we also drove to our next accommodation, where we will be staying until the 20th. We are super blessed in that we can go away often while other people need to scrape pennies together to have a short getaway.

I really want to be in a position to bless people with silly amounts of money this year.

Today Chantal and I got to spend some time just hanging out and driving around together.

We went to a local cheese and wine farm and did some cheese tasting. I'm not a wine guy, so didn't opt for the wine tasting.

We hung out with some goats.

It was a good day :-)

Today was a great day.

I reached a milestone in finishing off some outstanding work and delivering it to the client. I'm looking forward to closing this chapter and moving onto the next one.

I got to REALLY focus today... And it felt good to have some of my old focus power back.... It's not as focused or powerful as it once was... But hopefully I can continue to improve it again.

We went to a wedding in the afternoon and I met some pretty cool people.

All in all... A good day.
May I continue to issue this statement through 2018 and on!

Today was a long day... I powered through some final testing and tweaking on some of the stuff I've been working on for my business exit.

I seem to be becoming more connected in the crypto sphere. I have been made technical advisor for a new coin that is getting created during a takeover of a coin where the developer disappeared. I don't feel very advisor like... But I have gathered some knowledge over the last few months which can be used to help try make this coin a success... I also want to try create a coin sometime this year, so this will help me learn how it gets done.

I'm pretty solidly involved in crypto at the moment... It actually feels pretty cool to be on the inside track of something that's making waves out there at the moment.

I mine, I trade, I masternode. 2018 is going to be full of possibilities for crypto... 2019 might see many regulations come into play that change things dramatically.

Just when I was feeling like a failure God, through a series of events which simply cannot be coincidental, provided me a possible new direction. A direction that is giving me something new and exciting to focus on... Oh and maybe the money to start REALLY helping people and changing lives!!!

So I could have let today get to me... I battled to get a SIM card for my mi-fi router.
I need me some connectivity... Telkom and MTN won't help me without my ID book... Drivers license is not acceptable as form of identification... I'm a contract MTN customer... They'll add a data portion onto my contract account... But won't give me a prepaid sim... Surely once you have done RICA at a provider you are "RICAed"?? Apparently not... My contract with MTN comes to an end soon and I'm considering moving over to smoke signals from then on :-P

Instead of getting grumpy... I tried other avenues... And eventually ended up with a prepaid sim... From my BANK... Ok... So their connectivity isn't stellar currently, but it helped me.

Today felt like decent progress emotionally because I didn't default to negativity... I made a plan.

Today I got up reasonably early... Dealt with one or two things and then headed off towards the airport... We were heading to the land of the flat mountain and less than flat seas.

We stopped off at the mall of the south to grab a mi-fi hotspot... Gotta have me some connectivity.
I'm in a position that I can afford to buy decent stuff without excessively worrying about affordability... I still consider the cost carefully and look for bargains... But as each day passes I feel more and more blessed.

We have incredible friends that are willing to have our car stand at their place while we are off gallavanting around Cape Town. And family that is willing to check up on our cats.

The flight was smooth, another blessing... We have the finances to be able to fly to Cape Town and stay there.

Today was mostly like any other day. Except I stayed up super late the previous night... not playing games, but mining a new crypto coin... Of which I sold quite a bit today. I'm a crypto currency miner... And trader and whateverer.

Today was spent finishing some stuff off for my exit from my business. I previously would have though that this was a "negative" thing. But I am no longer fearing endings, as they lead to new beginnings.

I have no real idea what this ending and new beginning will lead to... But I'm on my way there now.

Tomorrow we leave for Cape Town. We are attending a wedding and then spending some time seeing friends and family. This will be the longest bit of "leave" I've had for a while. Really looking forward to the rest.

We are super blessed in that we're able to go away pretty often if we choose to.

Went for a drink with another buddy today... Where are all these buddies appearing from?! lol.

7th day... and he rested... NOT! lol

An early morning... Coffee... And go...

Today was super busy... but super decent. Today I had a good time during the worship session. I sometimes have brief moments where I feel like a "musician"... Mostly I just feel like a dude who knows how to jam a couple of chords on a guitar... Today was a day I felt like a musician.

Spent some time with family. Spent time with my wife, watched a movie and chilled.

All in all... A good day :-D

I'm into SOLID profit with the set of drain rods I bought... Yes... the toilet backed up... again... maybe it's because I'm full of ish... or maybe it's because I don't hold onto it :-P

I'm super blessed in that I find that I am willing to try do stuff that most people would rather not try or that they think they would not be able to do. That ranges from unblocking toilets, to building stuff... to hitting the ground, getting up and trying again.

Another day and more time with friends... where are all these friend creatures coming from currently? I have had periods of feeling lonely in the crowd, but currently I feel somewhat overwhelmed (in a good way) by the number of people who take an interest in my life and care about what I'm going through.

Day 5

Today was not as nice as yesterday. A 4 day run of good days is pretty decent for me.

In the last two months I have met the craziest bunch of people through something just as crazy... Crypto currency... or magic internet monies as another friend calls it.

One of them is an evangelist in the business sector, teaching people how to be Church in the workplace. I'm keen to hear more about what he is up to. I wonder if I could be used for something this year. I really hope so.

All in all... not a terrible day, but I'm still wrapping some stuff up with exiting out of my business.

Opportunities to do stuff besides software development seem to be popping up now. Whilst I really love using software/code to solve problems... I'm not overly fond of the fact that "people" problems can't be solved with software :-P

If they gave me the source code for the world I'm sure I could sort out a few of the bugs...

The day started with breakfast with a friend. It's actually pretty cool to have someone get hold of you and say "let's get together to just have breakfast and chat". I spent some time dreaming about changing the world. I'm hoping I be used by God for that at some point.

A little later I had a buddy pop round and talk crypto currency. He is slowly becoming a gamblevester.

It seems I have more friends than what I thought I did.

Life is like a movie... But sometimes it's crazy... like the movies.

I was absentmindedly sitting around at home when I got a whatsapp message from a buddy "Um... would you be able to come fetch me cos my car is bust?".
Said friend was stuck at work, 80+ km away. After some intense negotiation it was decided that sushi would be sufficient payment for said transportation services.

I'm blessed enough to be in the position to be able to jump in a car and drive for 40 mins to help someone out.
There are many people out there who either don't have a vehicle to do things like that or their budgets are so tight that they have budgeted down to every car trip.

I have a breakfast scheduled with another friend tomorrow morning... it seems I have more friends than I thought.

I think these posts are going to get longer as time passes :-P

Day 2. New friends and newer friends

So today marks day two of my mental health challenge/exercise. I left it to the last minute... also known as 10 past the end of day 2.
It was a pretty decent day, I made myself a list of tasks and I am happy to say I completed all of them.

I spent some time talking to one of my newer friends after dropping my wife off at work this morning.
I'm not a huge fan of phone calls... But I phoned a slightly older friend today to have a chat, which led to them coming round for a quick visit later during the day

I still want to work on my system for managing crypto currency master nodes... but that's a whole different story.

Welcome to Me, Myself and 365

So... I've decided to do a mental health type activity...

The idea is to have a sort of online diary... but with the main focus on highlighting positive things that happen.

What led me to thinking about doing this was I felt like 2017 was a terrible year... But in reflecting on the last year over the last week, it turns out that it wasn't AS terrible as I had imagined.

I don't really want to set a goal of "10 positive things that happened today" in case I have a really rough day.

Today was the first day of the year... I got to spend it hanging out with my amazing wife.
We just chilled most of the day and went out to the movies in the evening.
We are super blessed that basically whenever we choose to go out for dinner and movies we can.

2018 is probably going to be wild!
